La cena di Pitagora locanda vegana is located in the small village of San Ponzo in the Staffora Valley, a Lombard valley formed by the Staffora torrent located in the Oltrepò Pavese.

Arriving in the square you can admire the church dating back to the year one thousand, a small road will take you into the silent heart of the village with its stone houses and well kept courtyards; in the surroundings there are numerous paths for walks (on foot or by bicycle) relaxing or trails for experts, with about 40 minutes walk you reach the cave of San Ponzo, where he lived the saint who, vegetarian ante litteram, and as the tradition tells , fed on herbs and an egg laid by a hen.

A relaxing route is certainly the route of the former Voghera-Varzi railway closed in 1966, the "little train" that ran along many centers brought workers and students to Voghera on a journey perhaps slower but certainly free from the traffic of the highway along the stretches of promenade from which to admire the hilly landscape and the Staffora torrent.

In the immediate vicinity of the B&B you can visit some sites of great historical-landscape interest such as the Hermitage of Sant'Alberto di Butrio, "isolated in a cloister of mountains, among green pastures, chestnut trees, oaks and firs" where you will find also a small herbalist’s shop run by the friars.

The evocative Castle of Oramala rising on a hill, "surrounded by oak and chestnut woods, overlooks the small village of Oramala and the Valle Staffora".

Visits to the ancient village of Varzi and "the small town of Roman origin with the river Trebbia" ", Bobbio, or the spas of Salice and Rivanazzano

San Sebastiano Curone, an ancient village close to the Ligurian Apennines. During the summer weekends, the old shops reopen to host the craftsmen with their creations and, every year, the third weekend of September, Artinfiera comes alive, a beautiful fair of applied arts, located between the streets of the village.

A few kilometers away also the town of Volpedo, famous for being the birthplace of the painter Giuseppe Pellizza and where you can visit the birth house and the artist's studio. In it are stored work tools, personal objects, books and even some of his works.

Our inn is located in a strategic position to visit some cities in northern Italy: half an hour drive to Pavia, an hour to Milan and Piacenza, just over an hour to Genoa and the beautiful Ligurian Riviera. For lovers of vintage objects, in Rivanazzano from May to September, every Tuesday evening you can visit the market "Les temps retrouvè", in Pavia in Viale XI February, every first Sunday of the month (in piazza Duomo also the organic market), in Milan, on the Naviglio Grande, every last Sunday of the month.

Finally you can not miss the visit to the Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory "G. Giacomotti "di Cà del Monte, active since 2008 and open to the public at the weekend.

To cool off on hot summer days in Varzi there is our favorite pool, quiet and surrounded by trees.
